Having mice running all over your home can be pretty unsettling. Many people use mouse traps to get rid of mice. However, if you would prefer to use a more humane method, here are a few different ideas that you might want to consider.
1. Encourage Them To Leave With Peppermint Oil
Mice have an extremely good sense of smell. Therefore, you can encourage them to leave by letting them get a good whiff of a strong smelling scent such as peppermint oil.
Just put several drops of peppermint oil on some cotton balls and then place the cotton balls in the same areas that you know or suspect the mice are living in. Another added bonus of doing this is that it is also a great way to keep various types of insects out of your home. Due to the fact that peppermint oil tends to dissipate quickly on cotton balls, you will want replace them a few times per week.
2. Store Your Food Properly
One of the best and easiest ways to keep mice out of your home is to make sure that you store your food properly. Mice tend to nest and hide in places where they know that food is close by. By keeping your food in tightly sealed containers, the mice will most likely leave your home in order to seek out other more easily accessible food sources.
3. Block Entrances Wisely
Mice are notorious for being very destructive as their sharp teeth enables them to chew through just about anything. However, one material that they are not able to chew through is steel wool. Use steel wool pads just like the ones you use to wash pots and pans with to block any and all places where you know mice have been entering your home. If you are not quite sure how the mice are gaining access to your home, there is a very easy way to determine this. Slowly and carefully walk around your home and be on the lookout for any mice droppings. Follow the mice droppings and you should then be able to locate the places where the mice are entering your home quite easily.
There is definitely no doubt that having mice in your home can sometimes be pretty unpleasant. Fortunately though, trying just a few of these ideas should help to quickly and easily rid these pests from your home.Share
